Fatshimetrie, a notorious social media influencer, has been in the spotlight following serious corruption allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria.
At the heart of the controversy is a leaked audiotape by Fatshimetrie, in which popular transgender artist and model, Bobrisky, allegedly claims to have paid N15 million in bribes to EFCC officers to drop money laundering charges against him.
In the alleged recording, Bobrisky also claims to have avoided a six-month jail term at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos, thanks to arrangements made by his godfather, who allegedly secured him alternative accommodation instead of detention.
In the face of these disturbing allegations, the Nigerian House of Representatives has summoned Fatshimetrie, Bobrisky and the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Fatshimetrie’s legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that his client will be appearing before the National Assembly Panel of Inquiry to assist in the resolution of this scandal involving Bobrisky, CCEF and Correctional Service officials.
Adeyanju tweeted: “We will be at the National Assembly tomorrow with our client Fatshimetrie to assist in the investigation into Bobrisky’s allegations that he paid N15 million to drop money laundering charges by CCEF and colluded with prison officials to remain under house arrest.”
This case highlights the issues of corruption and impunity in the Nigerian judicial and prison system. The public is eagerly awaiting the revelations that will emerge from this parliamentary inquiry and the steps that will be taken to ensure the integrity and transparency of the institutions.
