Modernization of the Road Network in Matadi: A Crucial Step Forward for Kongo Central

Fatshimetrie, September 29, 2024 – Efforts to modernize the road network in Matadi, the capital of Kongo Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo, are making significant progress. During a field visit, Governor Grâce Nkuanga Masuangi Bilolo expressed satisfaction with the work accomplished by the Roads and Drainage Office (OVD) and the Provincial Division of Public Works.

The population of Matadi is actively and favorably participating in these projects, thus emphasizing their importance in the development of the province. The governor welcomed this support and stressed that the modernization projects are not limited to Matadi, but extend to several territories in the province, such as Lukala, Tshela and Luozi.

In line with the vision of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, the governor affirmed his determination to implement the fourth pillar of the five-year term, which focuses on regional planning, reconstruction and modernization of infrastructure.

One of the major problems raised is traffic jams, particularly in the port city of Matadi. To address this, measures have been taken, such as the project to build a car park located 15 km from the city. The governor called on the population to be patient and collaborate to deal with this worrying situation.

Alongside him during the visit, the provincial Minister of Infrastructure, Public Works and Reconstruction (ITPR), Jacques Khonde Mombo, and the Mayor of Matadi, Dominique Nkodia Mbete, also expressed their support for these modernization initiatives.

In conclusion, the road modernization works in Matadi represent a real lever for development for the province of Kongo Central. Thanks to close collaboration between the provincial authorities, the inhabitants and the various stakeholders involved, these projects aim to improve the quality of life of citizens and promote economic growth in the region.
