Importance of public enterprise management in the DRC: towards a new era of transparency and efficiency

A recent conference brought together state agents in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, to discuss the importance of efficient management of public enterprises. The aim was to highlight ongoing reforms, particularly the decree aimed at securing the assets of public enterprises, establishments and services.

Mwamba Mutombo, President of the Kinshasa/Gombe Labor Court, stressed the importance of competent and efficient management of public enterprises. According to him, state agents must be competitive and able to meet the specific needs of the enterprise they manage. He also stressed the importance for the government to appoint qualified people based on their expertise and experience to head public enterprises.

The conference highlighted the new decree on the assets of public enterprises and establishments of the State. This initiative aims to prevent bad practices of the past, such as abusive seizures that hampered the proper functioning of public enterprises. By securing the assets of public enterprises and establishments, the government seeks to ensure an environment conducive to their development and efficiency.
