Fatshimetrie, September 24, 2024 – The COREF ENCORE Fiscal Forum is currently being held in Kabinda, the capital of Lomami Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the objective of examining the annual revenue report for the 2023 financial year. Under the patronage of the World Bank, this event, supervised by Governor Iron Van Kalombo Musoko, aims to assess the level of implementation of the activities planned in the roadmap for monitoring recommendations, and to put in place new strategies to optimize revenue mobilization.
Governor Musoko encouraged participants to participate actively, stressing the importance of impartially evaluating the recommendations of previous forums. He stressed the need to capitalize on the discussions in order to develop effective strategies to improve revenue mobilization and promote the economic development of Lomami Province.
For Emmanuel Kibaya, provincial coordinator of the COREF-ENCORE project, this forum represents a privileged opportunity to take stock of the efforts made by all stakeholders to increase tax revenues. He emphasizes the importance of establishing corrective measures based on an in-depth diagnosis of the actions carried out so far.
This tax dialogue is part of a dynamic of continuous improvement, aimed at strengthening the collection of the province’s own revenues through a permanent consultation framework. The discussions focus in particular on the evaluation of the implementation of the recommendations of previous editions of the forum, bringing together around the table the tax administration, tax assessment services, decentralized territorial entities, civil society and economic actors.
The COREF ENCORE Tax Forum in Kabinda thus offers an essential exchange platform to promote collaboration between the different actors involved in the mobilization of tax revenues. By emphasizing transparency, efficiency and consultation, this event aims to strengthen the province’s financial management capacities and create an environment conducive to economic growth and sustainable development.
In short, this fiscal forum is of paramount importance in promoting fair and balanced taxation, making it possible to mobilize the resources needed to finance development projects and build a prosperous future for the province of Lomami.
