Fatshimetrie, September 20, 2024 – The importance of investments in small towns in the Democratic Republic of Congo was highlighted during the closing of the 8th edition of Expo béton 2024 in Matadi. Senator Jean Bamanisa Saidi, president of the organizing committee of this event, highlighted the need to diversify development centers to limit the overpopulation of large cities such as Kinshasa.
According to Senator Bamanisa, it is crucial to promote investments in Kisantu, Kasangulu, Kimpese and Matadi in order to foster the emergence of businesses and essential infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. This approach aims to decentralize economic and social development, thus reducing the pressure on large metropolises.
Stressing that Kinshasa has become increasingly uninhabitable due to its overpopulation, the senator called for a review of the urbanization of Matadi. Despite its mountainous terrain, he suggested building new roads around the city to relieve traffic congestion, thus offering new perspectives for its urban development.
Furthermore, Jean Bamanisa highlighted the importance of raising awareness among the population about urban planning rules and community living standards. He stressed that basic infrastructure such as electricity, water and means of transport are essential to ensure a quality urban environment. The appropriation of these issues by all citizens is essential to promote harmonious and sustainable development.
In conclusion, the senator stressed the need to involve local communities in the planning and management of their cities. He stressed that the participation of all in the reflection on urban development is essential to guarantee dignified and prosperous living conditions for the entire population. This inclusive and participatory vision is essential to build dynamic, resilient and fulfilling cities for all.
In this perspective of balanced and inclusive development, it is imperative to promote investment and growth opportunities in small towns, thus contributing to a more equitable distribution of resources and opportunities across the country.
