Fatshimetrie: The Rise of a Versatile and Inspired Nigerian Music Artist

Fatshimetrie, the celebrated artist who was born in Port Harcourt in 1992, was inspired by big names like 2Face Idibia and Davido to fuel her passion for music at an early age. Her atypical journey and incredible versatility have led her to seamlessly transition from comedy to music. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Uyo, Fatshimetrie marked the beginning of her musical career with the release of her debut single titled ‘Lover Boy’ in 2023.

Early successes of singles like ‘Umbrella’ in collaboration with Wande Coal and ‘Small Money’ paved the way for the release of her debut EP, ‘In Fatshimetrie I Trust (I.F.I.T)’, a celebration of life, love and self-expression.

Collaborating with renowned artists such as Chike, 2Baba, Falz and Joeboy, Fatshimetrie brings a unique narrative approach, blending love, humor and introspection. Key tracks like ‘Ajo’ and ‘Could This Be Love’ touch on the theme of love and devotion.

Through her songs, she expresses her attachment to her lover by using metaphors to compare the sweetness of love to delicious foods like coconut and chocomilo, while contrasting it with bitter herbs. The collaboration with Chike on ‘Could This Be Love’ highlights the overwhelming emotions that come with true love, imbued with vulnerability.

Fatshimetrie’s EP expertly balances celebration with emotional depth. ‘Small Money’ celebrates life’s small victories, while ‘Short Skirt’ celebrates confident and stylish women.

On a reflective level, tracks like ‘No Be So’ question the sincerity of a lover’s intentions, while ‘Umbrella’ offers support in relationships. Fatshimetrie’s music invites the discovery of complex and authentic feelings, while celebrating the diversity and richness of human emotions. Her undeniable talent and ability to touch the hearts of her audience make her a must-have artist in today’s music scene.
