On September 21, 2024, a major artistic event is about to shake the walls of the National Pedagogical University of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the evocative name of “I plead guilty”, this student show promises to be a true immersion in the diversity and artistic creativity of young university talents.
At the initiative of the UPN student forum in information and communication sciences, this event positions itself as a platform for promoting and celebrating artistic expression in its most varied forms. Slam, humor, artistic performances and projections will punctuate an evening rich in emotions and discoveries.
Led by the talented Congolese writer and poet Olivier Kakenge, better known under the pseudonym ‘Ol’S’, this project testifies to the cultural vitality that drives the young generation of students at UPN. Indeed, this show will bring together not only established artists, but also emerging talents, such as Ol’S Kakenge and Rachel Bosinga, brilliant students in multimedia and cinema respectively.
The diversity of the programs planned for this first edition of “Je plaide coupable” reflects the richness and transversality of the teachings provided within the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the UPN. The objective is clear: to create a space for dialogue and sharing, where art becomes a vector of awareness and emotion, highlighting the overflowing creativity of the students of this higher education institution.
By highlighting this major cultural initiative, the organizers of “Je plaide coupable” aim to captivate an audience eager for artistic discoveries, shares of emotions and unforgettable moments. This event aims to be much more than a simple artistic evening, it aspires to become a true showcase of the creative and committed youth of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The National Pedagogical University, heir to the National Pedagogical Institute founded in 1961, has, over the years, positioned itself as a bastion of culture and knowledge in the DRC. Through initiatives such as “I plead guilty”, it once again demonstrates its ability to train dynamic and creative youth, ready to engage and shine on the national and international cultural scene.
