**Strengthening Public Finance Control: Vital Kamerhe’s Commitments to the National Assembly**
On Monday, September 16, Vital Kamerhe, President of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo, opened the September ordinary session, emphasizing the need for effective control of public finances. In a speech to the lower house of Parliament, Kamerhe stressed the importance of rigorous and quality control to deter undesirable practices.
To achieve this goal, the President of the National Assembly expressed his intention to work closely with the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) and the Court of Auditors to intensify parliamentary control. He announced upcoming meetings with the heads of these institutions to coordinate their efforts in favor of good governance, in line with the wishes of the Head of State.
According to Vital Kamerhe, no budget reform can succeed without an improvement in the management of public finances. He stressed the need to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds, calling for these resources to serve exclusively the national interest. To strengthen parliamentary control during this legislature, Kamerhe plans two working sessions, first with the Court of Auditors, then with the Court of Auditors and the IGF, benefiting from their recognized expertise in the matter.
It is worth highlighting the essential role of the IGF over the past four years, under the leadership of Jules Alingete. The institution has established itself as a major player in the control of public finances, in particular by participating in the revision of the Sino-Congolese contract, known as SICOMINES. The IGF is also waging a fierce fight against corruption, embezzlement of public funds and money laundering, thus contributing to the integrity of institutions and the protection of state resources.
