Quality Education for All: The Generous Gesture of National Service Towards Congolese Schoolchildren

Fatshimetrie, September 17, 2024 – News often brings a breath of hope and progress, and such is the case with the recent initiative of the National Service of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which handed over a batch of 400 desks to a public school in the Tshatshi military camp, located in the Ngaliema commune in Kinshasa. This commendable action aims to improve the learning conditions of students, by providing essential equipment to facilitate their schooling.

Major General Jean-Pierre Kasongo Kabwik, Commander of the National Service, underlined the importance of this approach by highlighting the critical need for desks in many schools in Kinshasa. He highlighted the installation of a modern carpentry workshop in N’Sele, producing these desks which are then distributed free of charge to schools in the capital. This initiative is part of the Head of State’s vision to guarantee access to quality education for all children, without the issue of families’ financial resources being an obstacle.

The reactions of the beneficiaries were not long in coming, with Mr. Albert Kalonji, prefect of the Tshatshi Primary School 1 and 2, warmly welcoming this valuable assistance for the students. He also encouraged the National Service to continue its efforts in other areas, such as agriculture, to meet the multiple and urgent needs of the population. Free education, decreed five years ago by the President of the Republic, has highlighted the need to improve educational infrastructure and learning conditions, in order to guarantee a promising future for the younger generations.

Ultimately, this action of the National Service demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese government to education and the well-being of citizens. It embodies the idea that every child deserves the chance to receive a quality education, regardless of their origins or social context. These 400 desks donated to the Tshatshi Military Camp school are not just furniture, but tools to build a better future for all the children of Congo.
