In one of her few horror films of recent years, Oscar winner Halle Berry reveals she drew on her own experiences as a mother for her role in Alexandre Aja’s “Never Let Go.” The actress says the film’s focus on generational trauma resonated with her. “That’s what interested me,” she said. “It’s not just a psychological thriller or a horror movie. It’s really about the cycle of generational trauma and how, if we don’t heal ourselves, we just keep passing it on.”

The film’s dark content made the acting process difficult, but her co-stars took it in stride. “I love a challenge,” said Anthony B. Jenkins, who plays Berry’s character’s son. “They sent me the whole script. I read it all the way through. I thought, this isn’t really just a thriller. This isn’t really just a family trying to escape evil. This is really about family love.”

The film will open in most theaters in late September, with a few countries including Brazil and Spain in October, before opening in Turkey in December.

While “Never Let “Never Let Go” is getting closer, expectations are high due to the unique combination of talent behind and in front of the camera. Berry, known for her emotional intensity and screen presence, promises to deliver an unforgettable performance in this horror thriller that explores complex and timely themes.
