Women’s Empowerment in Kinshasa: Training for a Bright Entrepreneurial Future

Fatshimetrie, September 17, 2024 – An initiative for women’s empowerment recently took shape in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. A non-governmental organization based in Masina, in the east of the city, organized a training focused on small business management. In total, about fifty young girls and women, aged 15 to 35, participated in this event intended to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage an income-generating activity.

Prisca Ngandu, coordinator of the Congolese Association for Family Rights, stressed the importance of this training as an essential tool to ensure the financial autonomy and development of the participants. The main objective was to equip them so that they could prosper in any business area they chose to explore, whether it was selling food, clothing or other products.

The participants’ testimonies reflect the positive impact of this training. Ms. Divine Tshilomba expressed her gratitude for the knowledge acquired in business management. In particular, she learned how to effectively manage start-up capital, as well as the techniques for manufacturing products such as yogurt, bissap and cakes, all skills that will be essential for her entrepreneurial project.

Antoinette Mvemba, executive secretary of this association, welcomed this initiative as an important step in the empowerment of vulnerable women. For her, this project is part of a broader framework aimed at promoting equality and combating discrimination.

Created in 2022, this organization aims to work in the humanitarian field by promoting the construction of an equitable and harmonious society, free from any form of discrimination. Its commitment to the empowerment of women is a concrete example of social transformation and the emancipation of the most vulnerable individuals.

This initiative highlights the importance of supporting women in their entrepreneurial journey and providing them with the tools to realize their potential. By investing in these initiatives, the company contributes to building a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
