Fight against HIV/AIDS and Mpox: Decisive awareness in the Mukulkya district

On this day of September 16, the NGO “Tendo la Roho” undertook a bold awareness-raising initiative in the Mukulkya neighborhood, highlighting the crucial issues of managing Mpox and HIV/AIDS. This action reveals the crucial importance of education and prevention in the fight against these devastating diseases.

The Mukulkya neighborhood, which stands as a gateway for incoming and outgoing flows of the city of Beni, is faced with worrying rates of HIV/AIDS, particularly among young girls. Noella Nzala, coordinator of the NGO, highlighted this alarming problem, highlighting the vulnerability of young people in the region.

The call to parents to provide advice to their children and ensure their education is undeniably relevant. The importance of education and parental support in preventing these diseases cannot be underestimated. Education remains the cornerstone of any effective strategy to combat HIV/AIDS and Mpox.

The NGO’s mobilization in three local churches in the Mukulkya district demonstrates its desire to reach a wide audience and raise awareness in the community as a whole. This local approach, anchored in the social fabric of the region, promotes effective dissemination of preventive and educational messages.

The report of the National AIDS Control Program (PNLS) highlighting the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS among young girls in the region highlights the urgency of concerted and targeted actions. Awareness-raising, upstream of screening and treatment campaigns, plays a crucial role in reducing the risks of spreading these deadly diseases.

Ultimately, this awareness-raising initiative by the NGO “Tendo la Roho” in the Mukulkya district opens up promising prospects for the future. By combining community efforts and medical expertise, there is hope for a significant decline in MPOX and HIV/AIDS in the region, providing a healthier and safer future for future generations.
