Fatshimetrie: Joint Review for Quality Education in the DRC
The Congolese capital, Kinshasa, was recently the scene of the Joint Review of Education in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a crucial event for the future of Congolese youth. From September 16 to 19, stakeholders in the education sector met to begin work on developing the new post-2025 strategic plan, marking a significant step in the evolution of the country’s education system.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Education, these meetings aim to draw up an in-depth inventory of the Congolese education system, highlighting its weaknesses, opportunities and ambitions for the future. For Valère Munsya, coordinator of the Permanent Secretariat for Support and Coordination of the Education Sector (SPACE), the government aims to develop the education system through the implementation of structural reforms.
The commitment of the sector’s stakeholders is not limited to speeches, as evidenced by the presence of the French Embassy in the DRC. The latter considers this joint review as a crucial element in providing every young Congolese with a quality, equitable and inclusive education. It is therefore a privileged opportunity to assess the progress made, overcome persistent obstacles and define innovative strategies to meet future challenges.
Marc Ekila, Minister of Vocational Training, expressed the wish that the country’s actions be aligned with the objectives of the 2024-2029 five-year plan. This long-term vision, focused on the constant improvement of the education system, demonstrates the determination of the Congolese authorities to guarantee a promising future for young people.
Over the years, several reviews have been conducted to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. The annual meetings and the mid-term review demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to establishing a dynamic for monitoring and implementing the recommendations made.
The ongoing work brings together a wide range of stakeholders from the education sector, as well as experts from civil society and technical and financial partners. This diversity of perspectives helps to enrich the debates and adopt concerted solutions to advance education in the DRC.
In conclusion, the Joint Review of Education in the DRC embodies a key moment in the trajectory of the Congolese education system. By focusing on continuous improvement, inclusion and the quality of education, it paves the way for a bright future for the country’s youth.
