Celebration of the Closing of the Academic Year at ISTM-Kisangani: Graduates Ready to Serve Their Community

Kisangani, September 17, 2024 – The Higher Institute of Medical Techniques (ISTM-Kisangani) recently celebrated the closing of its 2023-2024 academic year, marking the end of an intense learning cycle for more than a thousand graduates. During the ceremony, Professor Désiré Isetcha Tawiti, Director General of ISTM-Kisangani, encouraged students to put the knowledge they have acquired into practice and serve their community effectively.

The 1,054 graduates of ISTM-Kisangani, divided between the LMD system and the old system, are now responsible for applying their skills to serve public health and society in general. The Director General welcomed the achievements made by the institution, both in terms of teaching and infrastructure. Efforts to improve learning and working conditions are visible through the construction of classrooms, offices, as well as the acquisition of modern equipment and teaching resources.

Furthermore, ISTM-Kisangani has launched ambitious construction projects, such as the establishment of a modern hospital and new buildings in Magopi. These initiatives aim to strengthen the institution’s capacity to provide quality training and meet the growing needs of the health sector. In addition, strategic partnerships have been established with other academic institutions to promote knowledge exchange and research development.

The Education Advisor to the Governor of Tshopo Province, Ms. Rosie Lekakwa, stressed the importance of the commitment of new graduates in the fight against the Mpox epidemic in the region. She also encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and use their medical expertise to actively contribute to the economic development of the region.

In conclusion, the closing ceremony of the academic year at ISTM-Kisangani was an opportunity to celebrate the success of the students and to highlight the remarkable achievements of the institution.
