**Fatshimetrie: An act of humanity in Matadi**
In a gesture marked by humanity, the mayor of Matadi, Dominique Nkodia Mbete, supervised the burial of fourteen destitute people abandoned in the morgue of the provincial hospital of Kinkanda for four long years. This action, carried out with respect for human dignity, underlines the compassion and commitment to the most destitute on the part of the urban authority.
The remains of these individuals, among whom were prisoners and accident victims, finally found rest in the Boko 2 cemetery, thanks to the initiative of the municipality. Each deceased was accompanied to their final resting place by a coffin, a blanket and an individual grave, testifying to the attention and respect given to their memory.
Faced with the absence of family to claim the bodies, these people were kept in the morgue for an excessive period. Therefore, the decision of a collective burial was necessary to relieve the pressure on the facility and ensure its optimal functioning. This commendable action was approved by the competent authorities, with the issuance of the burial permit after consultation with the public prosecutor.
The commitment of the mayor of Matadi and the local authorities in this approach demonstrates a sincere concern for the well-being and dignity of all citizens, including the most vulnerable. By ensuring that these people receive a decent funeral, the municipality affirms its social responsibility and its concern for social justice.
The collective burial of these destitute people in Matadi, under the careful supervision of Dominique Nkodia Mbete, represents an act of humanity and compassion that deserves to be commended. This example of solidarity with the most deprived should encourage other similar initiatives in the country, by emphasizing the importance of preserving the dignity and respect of each individual, regardless of their social status.
