The presence of senior political figures such as Governor Umo Eno, his deputy Senator Akon Eyakenyi, and former Governor Udom Emmanuel underscored the significance of the event. The voting of delegates was supervised by an electoral committee from Abuja to ensure transparency in the elections.

At the time of his election, Akpan expressed his readiness to collaborate with all members of the party to sustain the winning momentum of the PDP in the state and ensure the re-election of Governor Eno in 2027. He commended the Governor for his support and acknowledged the contributions of past leaders of the party, highlighting the continued growth of the PDP’s presence in local and national institutions.

In his speech, Akpan expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the next local government elections and the governorship race in 2027. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for his commitment to the party and the people of Akwa Ibom.

The new leaders elected to key positions include Harrison Ekpo as Vice Chairman, Ibanga Brownson as Secretary, Mrs. Akpabio as Treasurer, and Edwin Ebiese as Communication Secretary.
