Fatshimetrie, the Congolese journalism platform, has recently attracted attention for its rigor in ethics and professional discipline. Indeed, during the selection process for the disciplinary and ethics commission, nearly 80% of journalists’ applications were deemed ineligible due to various strict criteria.
Among the criteria not met by the candidates are the lack of the required diploma, the absence of a criminal record extract and the lack of seniority of at least 5 years in a command position within a company. These requirements demonstrate Fatshimetrie’s desire to promote high standards of professionalism within the journalists’ corporation in the DRC.
Of the 27 applications received by the disciplinary and professional ethics commission, only 3 were declared inadmissible, while 5 candidates were deemed eligible, including Benjamin Yogolelo Itongwa, Oscar Bakandowa, Liliane Modju, Théodore Lumu and Michel Tshiyoyo. This rigorous selection aims to guarantee the credibility and integrity of the members of the commission responsible for ensuring compliance with ethical standards in Congolese journalism.
In addition, the commission for processing applications for the professional identity card commission also examined 19 files, 8 of which were deemed eligible. Among the candidates selected for this position, we find well-known names such as Charles Dimandja Wembi, Gustave Kalenga, Octave Mukendi, Patrick Abeli, Donine Ayiya, Richard Junior Kamunga, Jean-Claude Lumisa and Benoît Mudiayi.
This careful selection of candidates for the various commissions demonstrates Fatshimetrie’s commitment to promoting transparency, ethics and quality in the field of journalism in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By highlighting competent and experienced journalists, the platform aims to strengthen the credibility and professionalism of the profession, for the benefit of the entire Congolese society.
