Fatshimetrie, September 13, 2024 – Congolese author Félicien Ngalamulume once again stands out for his commitment to women’s rights and his fight against injustice through the presentation of two works this Saturday in Kasaï Central, in the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo. These are the play entitled “Elle surprend son père” and the collection of poems called “Être indispensable”, both published by Luluabourg editions in 2024.
The theatrical work “Elle surprend son père” subtly raises the question of the marginalization of a young woman within her family, simply because she chose to pursue university studies. By highlighting this delicate situation, Félicien Ngalamulume highlights the obstacles and discrimination that women can face in contemporary society.
As for the collection of poems “Être indispensable”, prefaced by Pr. Léopold Kalubende, it highlights the innumerable potential of women and the essential role they occupy within the community. Through poetic verses imbued with sensitivity, the author celebrates the strength and beauty of femininity while denouncing the injustices they suffer on a daily basis.
At only 28 years old, Félicien Ngalamulume positions himself as a committed writer, ready to give a voice to the causes that are close to his heart. His future projects demonstrate his determination to continue this path, including the upcoming publication of the book entitled “Le pays de mille églises”, a short story entitled “Femme de douleur” and a play that asks: “Who sold the country?”.
Through his writings, Félicien Ngalamulume offers a profound reflection on the condition of women and the social realities that surround them. Her work illustrates how literature can be a powerful vehicle for raising awareness and mobilizing to advance the fight for gender equality and social justice.
