Fatshimetrie, September 11, 2024 – A ministerial meeting of crucial importance recently took place, bringing together the Ministers of Portfolio and Hydrocarbons, as well as the provisional commission responsible for identifying logistics assets to be transferred by an oil company to the Congolese State. Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Portfolio, key discussions took place in order to set up a joint commission whose mission is to identify, value and transfer these assets efficiently.
At the heart of these discussions, the General Manager of Finalog, Baba Moussa Diallo, stressed the importance of listing the real estate assets concerned, such as the pipeline route, depots and pumping stations. These key logistics elements are subject to careful assessment with a view to their retrocession to the State, with the aim of promoting optimal and sustainable management of these strategic infrastructures.
The stated desire of the Minister of Portfolio to ensure the continuation of the post-meeting work attests to the government’s commitment to this transfer project, the beneficial effects of which are expected for the entire sector. The establishment of a preparatory committee dedicated to this large-scale operation demonstrates the rigor and transparency established in the process of recovery and valorization of these logistics assets.
This meeting, co-chaired by the Ministers of Hydrocarbons and Portfolio, Molendo Sakombi and Jean-Lucien Bussa Tongba, is part of a proactive approach aimed at ensuring the success of the transfer planned for December 31 of this year. The various parties involved, whether the ministries concerned, the Council of Ministers, the CSP, Copirep, Finalog and Sep-Congo, are working together to successfully complete this complex and strategic operation.
The date of December 31 is emerging as a crucial deadline for the realization of this transfer, and the establishment of a consolidated joint commission attests to the government’s desire to meticulously prepare this process. Minister Bussa’s inspection visit to Finalog’s facilities, preceding the work of the preparatory commission, denotes the involvement and investment of the authorities in the development and optimization of national logistics resources.
In short, this ministerial meeting marks the beginning of a decisive phase in the process of transferring Finalog’s logistics assets to the Congolese State, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable management of these strategic infrastructures for the country’s development.
