The Bosangani Dance Festival, a major cultural event in the Democratic Republic of Congo, celebrates the history and cultural richness of the Kongo kingdom. Initiated by the artist Jolie Ngembi, this fourth edition highlights the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s cultural heritage.
The objective of this festival is to retrace the forgotten history of the Kongo kingdom, before colonization, to better understand and appreciate the very essence of Congolese culture. Indeed, it is essential to delve into the past to better envision the future and build a strong and authentic cultural identity.
Through shows, workshops and artistic meetings, the Bosangani Festival offers a platform for exchange and discovery for local and international artists. This year, 46 artists from various backgrounds are participating in this unique event, highlighting the diversity and richness of artistic expressions linked to Kongo culture.
The initiator of the project, Jolie Ngembi, also launched an appeal to public institutions to further support artistic creation by providing cultural spaces and suitable infrastructure. Indeed, it is essential to recognize and promote the talent of Congolese artists by offering them the means necessary to express themselves and develop in a stimulating artistic environment.
Furthermore, the Bosangani Festival contributes to strengthening cultural ties between the DRC and Switzerland, thus promoting artistic exchanges and international collaborations. This event highlights local talent and offers a unique showcase to discover the richness and diversity of Congolese culture.
In short, the Bosangani Festival is much more than just a cultural event, it is a true celebration of the identity and history of the Congolese people. By highlighting dance and traditional arts, it helps preserve and transmit a rich and diverse cultural heritage, while offering artists a platform to express themselves and share their passion with the public.
