A shocking case is currently shaking the community in Ondo State, Nigeria. Indeed, a 31-year-old pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, named Oluwasegun Victor, has been imprisoned for impregnating a minor and four other young girls.
The facts alleged against Pastor Oluwasegun date back to July 24, 2024, in Oba-Ile, in the Akure region. Accused of having non-consensual sexual intercourse with the minor and having contravened section 31(1) of the Ondo State Child Rights Act of 2007, the pastor was presented before the Akure Magistrates’ Court.
The charge, brought by prosecutor David Ebriku, seeks the detention of the suspect in a rehabilitation center under section 31(2) of the same law. According to the indictment, Pastor Victor allegedly committed the offence of sexual abuse on 15-year-old Precious Olisemeke at his home in Oba-Ile.
The Pastor’s defence sought time to respond to the application for remand. The judge, Mr Taiwo Lebi, subsequently ordered the suspect remanded in custody and set the next hearing for 19th September 2024 for consideration of the bail application.
