Recently, we had the privilege of attending a training session on humanitarian diplomacy organized by the Red Cross in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the Kasai Central region. This initiative demonstrates the Red Cross’s ongoing commitment to training and raising awareness among local actors on the crucial issues of humanitarian diplomacy.
The two-day session brought together 65 participants, all eager to better understand the workings of humanitarian diplomacy and to put into practice the lessons learned. Under the leadership of Belinda Beya, Head of the Youth Division at the Red Cross DRC for Kasai Central, participants were able to acquire new skills and strategies to convince decision-makers and opinion leaders to act in favor of vulnerable people in the region.
During her speech, Belinda Beya stressed the importance of remaining faithful to the fundamental principles of the Red Cross in any humanitarian diplomacy action. He also insisted on the commitment and responsibility of the Red Cross society in this area, warning against any deviation from humanitarian ethics and values.
The territorial president of the Red Cross, Ms. Aimenrence Nambuyi, welcomed the success of the session, emphasizing the involvement and motivation of the participants to become true actors of humanitarian diplomacy in their community.
This initiative demonstrates the crucial importance of awareness-raising and training in the humanitarian field. By emphasizing the values of empathy, solidarity and respect, the Red Cross and its partners actively contribute to promoting a more just and inclusive world for all.
Fatshimetrie will continue to closely monitor actions and initiatives in favor of humanitarian diplomacy in the DRC and around the world, because informing and raising awareness are the first steps towards positive and lasting change.
