High ambitions for young Congolese scholarship holders in Russia

Fatshimetrie, August 28, 2024 – Yesterday, a reception full of emotion and promise was held at the Russian Embassy in Kinshasa for a group of young Congolese, beneficiaries of scholarships from the Russian government. This event was an opportunity for the authorities present to emphasize the importance of the students’ diligence and commitment throughout their studies.

In front of an attentive audience, the Congolese Minister of Higher and University Education, Marie-Thérèse Sombo, reminded the young students of the importance of seizing this learning opportunity to not only acquire new skills, but also to enrich their cultural background by discovering the richness of Russian culture.

This collaboration between the Congolese and Russian governments in the field of higher education was hailed as a significant step towards mutually beneficial development for both nations. Indeed, the training of these young Congolese researchers in Russia will allow them to return to their home country with enhanced skills, ready to contribute to improving higher education in Congo.

For his part, the Russian Ambassador to the DRC, Alexey Sentebov, welcomed the success of the participants in the state scholarship competition and stressed the importance of the specialties offered by Russian universities, ranging from computer science to agriculture, medicine and economics. He expressed his confidence that these talented young Congolese will contribute significantly to the development of their country upon their return.

For his part, the DRC Ambassador to Russia, Ivan Vangu Ngimbi, called on the students to be disciplined and hardworking in order to fully succeed in their training and be ready to take on the challenges that will arise upon their return to the country.

This promising meeting was also an opportunity for the Russian ambassador to announce upcoming cultural events between the two countries to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations. This initiative will further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Russia and the DRC.

Thus, this reception at the Russian Embassy in Kinshasa marked the beginning of a new adventure for these young Congolese scholarship holders, who will have the opportunity to acquire valuable knowledge and skills, while contributing to the influence of their country and strengthening ties between the two nations.
