Fatshimetrie, August 28, 2024 – The city of Mbuji-Mayi, in the Kasai Oriental province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is undergoing an unprecedented transformation thanks to the urban road rehabilitation and modernization project, called ”Tshilejelu”. Under the enlightened leadership of Engineer Victor Tumba Tshikela, Director General of the Roads and Drainage Office (OVD), this ambitious initiative aims to breathe new life into the city’s road infrastructure.
At the heart of the challenges of this undertaking, there is above all the promise of improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Mbuji-Mayi. With the renovation of 25 kilometers of urban roads, including the emblematic Lusambo Avenue, the travel conditions of citizens will be greatly facilitated. This modernization will also contribute to boosting the local economy by promoting trade and stimulating the development of economic activities.
The innovative aspect of this project lies in its long-term vision. Indeed, in addition to the 25 kilometers already under rehabilitation, the plan provides for extending the work to other arteries of the city, thus bringing the total to 60 kilometers of completely resurfaced roads. This ambitious approach is part of a global strategy aimed at transforming Mbuji-Mayi into a modern and dynamic metropolis, capable of competing with the major cities of the continent.
Engineer Victor Tumba is particularly enthusiastic about the progress of the work. He proudly highlights the progress made on Lusambo Avenue, where the asphalt has been laid, and discusses the future stages of the project, in particular the renovation of Avenue de l’École and Avenue Odia David. For him, the ‘Tshilejelu’ project is much more than a simple road rehabilitation operation; it is a real metamorphosis of the city, driven by the vision of the President of the Republic.
By touring the construction sites of Mbuji-Mayi, Engineer Victor Tumba breathes new life into the city, emphasizing the importance of each development for the future of the city. With the involvement of the Safrimex company and the expertise of Fatshi Béton, the ‘Tshilejelu’ project is positioned as a model of urban development in Africa, inspiring other similar initiatives across the continent.
In conclusion, the rehabilitation and modernization of urban roads in Mbuji-Mayi embody the commitment of the Congolese government to the development of infrastructure and the well-being of citizens. Thanks to visionary projects like ‘Tshilejelu’, the city is transforming before our eyes into a modern metropolis, where mobility, dynamism and quality of life are at the heart of concerns.
