Unequivocal verdict: Eiye brotherhood member convicted of conspiracy and membership in an illegal society

In a recent verdict, Magistrate O.L. Oke delivered his ruling, stating that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and that the defendant was guilty as charged.

Magistrate Oke also noted that the evidence presented by the prosecution was strong, and ordered that Mutairu serve his sentence without the option of paying any fine.

Mutairu was facing two counts, conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Olaide Rawlings, the offences alleged against the defendant were committed on September 3, 2023, at Olodo Junction in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of ​​Ogun State.

Rawlings said the police had received information that some members of the Eiye Confraternity, led by the defendant, were meeting at Olodo Junction in Ijebu-Ode.

She explained that the police apprehended the defendant, while the other members of the brotherhood managed to escape.
