Imminent delivery of 35 wagons of corn seeds to Kananga, a hope for food security in the DRC

Indeed, the delivery of 35 wagons filled with corn seeds from the agricultural area of ​​Demba, in the territory of Mweka, by the railway of the Société nationale des chemins de fer du Congo (SNCC) is planned. This news was announced with enthusiasm by Job Kuyindama, vice-governor of the province, during his visit to the SNCC facilities.

He stressed the importance of this delivery to solve the problem of the scarcity of corn seeds in the region, while the price of the measure of this commodity has increased considerably on the markets of Kananga. Indeed, the price has gone from 2700 to 4500 Congolese francs, which has had a negative impact on local consumers.

The provincial government is committed to ensuring the security of the sale of this cargo and to closely supervising its supply to the region’s depots.
