Fatshimétrie: Historic meeting for the choice of the final office of the Senate
The Sacred Union, this unprecedented political gathering in the Democratic Republic of Congo led by President Félix Tshisekedi, marked a major turning point in its career by announcing the nomination of its candidate for the presidency of the Senate during a historic meeting. This event, masterfully led by Augustin Kabuya, secretary of the UDPS and coordinator of the parliamentary majority within the Sacred Union, was the scene of crucial decisions for the political future of the country.
Indeed, under the directive of President Tshisekedi, it was decided that the candidacy of Sama Lukonde would be withdrawn from the race for the presidency of the Senate, making him the official choice of the Head of State to occupy this prestigious position. A decision that brought down the candidacies of Idrissa Mangala and Jonas Mukamba, thus leaving the way clear for the former Prime Minister to run for this highly important position.
Similarly, other key appointments were announced at this historic meeting. Kalala wa Kalala Jose was selected for the position of First Vice President, while Bahati Lukwebo of AFDC-A was confirmed as the candidate for the position of Second Vice President. Jean Bamanisa Saidi, Taupin Kabongo, and Isabelle Kalamba wa Umba complete this dream team by running for the positions of Rapporteur, Quaestor, and Deputy Quaestor, respectively.
This meeting was also an opportunity for the members of the Union Sacrée to recall the importance of unity and cohesion within their political family. Peter Kazadi, national deputy and executive of the UDPS, stressed the need to remain united in the face of the challenges that lie ahead and not to give in to individual ambitions that could weaken this common front.
Furthermore, the election campaign for the final bureau of the Senate was postponed for technical and security reasons, leaving an atmosphere of suspense hanging over the final outcome of this process. Despite this setback, all the applications were examined, with the exception of one which was rejected, thus demonstrating the seriousness and transparency of this political approach.
In conclusion, this meeting of the Sacred Union for the choice of the final bureau of the Senate will remain engraved in the political annals of the DR Congo as a pivotal moment where unity and determination prevailed to build a better future for the country. The stakes are high, but the desire for change and progress that drives this gathering suggests promising prospects for the democratic future of the country.
