Displaced from Manzasay: Garry Sakata’s Urgent Call to Action

Fatshimétrie had access to poignant images showing the difficult reality of more than 5,225 displaced people, mostly women and children, living in precarious conditions in Manzasay, in the territory of Bagata (Kwilu). These people fled the violence of the Mobondo to find themselves temporarily housed in classrooms transformed into reception sites.

According to information gathered from the administrator of the territory, Amédée Mbangambuma, these displaced people come from villages such as Kingalamatele, Parking BRB, and the Kisia group, in the village of Kingala Mubenga.

Faced with this situation, the elected national deputy of Bagata, Garry Sakata, is sounding the alarm by calling on the Government to act urgently for these vulnerable people. He emphasizes that with the start of the school year approaching, it is essential to find sustainable solutions for these displaced populations.

He believes that the necessary humanitarian assistance must include essential supplies such as mattresses to ensure comfortable sleep, food, but also school books so that children can resume their studies when school starts again. He also suggests that for those who cannot return to their villages, the Government can provide metal sheets or tarpaulins for the construction of temporary shelters.

The situation of these displaced people is alarming, and it is crucial that concrete measures are taken quickly to ensure them a minimum of dignity and security. Garry Sakata’s appeal underlines the urgency of the situation and the need for a coordinated response to meet the essential needs of these vulnerable populations, who risk being forgotten if no action is taken.
