The political news in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to attract interest and attention both nationally and internationally. A total of 38 political parties and civil society movements recently met in Kinshasa to discuss the challenges facing the country. This meeting, initiated by opponents Seth Kikuni and Claudel Lubaya, aims to form a common front in the face of the multidimensional crisis raging in the country.
Participants expressed their willingness to unite to address various problems such as the rise of dictatorship, corruption, the instrumentalization of justice, impunity and many others. They stressed the importance of remaining united and pooling their actions to create the necessary conditions for positive change. Despite the absence of some opposition heavyweights during the first consultations, optimism reigns among the forces engaged in this process.
A second phase of consultations is planned, with the aim of engaging in dialogue with a broader range of political and civil society actors. Reflection days will also be organized soon to assess the current situation and consider future prospects. A preparatory committee has been set up to prepare for these crucial events.
Seth Kikuni, president of the political party Piste pour L’urgence, stressed the importance of putting aside differences and coming together to fight against violations of the laws of the Republic and the tribalism that is eating away at the current governance system.
