The Democratic Republic of Congo won yesterday the organization of the 22nd edition of the United States-Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum) to be held in 2025 in Kinshasa. This victory was hailed as a major success for the country, highlighting the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa.
The bold and insightful strategy put in place by the Prime Minister has enabled the DRC to surpass the competition of renowned African countries such as Nigeria, Mauritius and Rwanda. The announcement of this nomination was made by Julien Paluku, Minister of Foreign Trade, upon his return from the 21st edition of the AGOA Forum in Washington DC, where he was received by the Prime Minister to discuss progress.
The official letter from the Prime Minister, addressed to all participants of the AGOA Forum, played a crucial role in the final decision. By presenting the advantages and opportunities offered by the DRC, she was able to convince the audience of the relevance of choosing Kinshasa as the venue for the next edition. This demonstration of will and determination was welcomed by all the actors present at the forum.
The 22nd edition of the AGOA Forum in Kinshasa will offer a unique opportunity to strengthen trade and economic ties between American and Congolese partners. Through the establishment of a framework for collaboration in the agricultural and mining sectors, the DRC aims to promote the development and growth of its economy, while offering investment and partnership opportunities.
The reintegration of the DRC into the AGOA system has already borne fruit, with a significant increase in trade between the country and the United States, from $600 million to $3 billion. This remarkable performance demonstrates the potential and opportunities offered by the DRC on the international scene.
In conclusion, the organization of the AGOA 2025 Forum in Kinshasa marks an important step in promoting trade and cooperation between the DRC and the United States. This event will be an opportunity for the DRC to present its economic dynamism and assets to international stakeholders, thus strengthening its position as a destination of choice for investments.
