At the heart of the ecological transition and the empowerment of women in the DRC: ACEFA’s commitment

In the heart of the Kivus and Maniema regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the non-governmental organization ACEFA continues its commitment to resource empowerment and the protection of women’s rights. Monday, August 5 marked the start of a workshop of capital importance for the defense of human rights and the preservation of the environment in small-scale mining areas in these provinces.

Led by coordinator Annie Sinanduku Mwange, this three-day workshop brings together a diversity of actors, including those from the mining sector. The objective is clear: to give a voice to women, often forgotten protagonists, so that they can actively contribute to the ongoing ecological transition. It will address human rights, sustainable environmental management and the economic empowerment of women, essential themes for communities wishing to evolve towards a model that is more respectful of humans and nature.

Beyond debates and discussions, this workshop aims for concrete results. This includes developing effective awareness-raising and mobilization techniques to initiate a change in mentality and behavior in favor of the ecological transition. Participants are therefore invited to take ownership of the project, fully adhere to it, and implement the necessary actions to ensure its success.

This ambitious project benefits from the financial support of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, thus highlighting the crucial importance of international cooperation in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

Through this workshop, ACEFA is resolutely committed to an approach to empowering women, protecting the environment, and promoting human rights. This initiative, far from being trivial, is a further step towards a more equitable, sustainable world that respects the diversity of voices that make it up. By joining forces and skills, the various actors involved are helping to build a better future for present and future generations, where solidarity and ecological awareness will guide everyone’s actions.
