Moving tribute to the comedian artists of the DRC during a thanksgiving mass

Fatshimetrie, July 28, 2024 – The city of Kinshasa vibrated to the rhythm of emotion and recognition during the recent thanksgiving mass dedicated to the great comedian artists of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This event loaded with symbolism was held at the Saint Joseph parish, in the heart of the commune of Kalamu, under the aegis of the “Tokanisa Foundation”.

This spiritual ceremony, presided over by JP Masamba, president of the Tokanisa Foundation, brought together the families of the deceased comedian artists, offering a moment of prayer and meditation in their memory. The participants expressed their gratitude to these actors who have contributed so much to enriching Congolese culture. Thoughts turned to the orphans and widows left by these great artists, highlighting the profound impact of their artistic legacy.

Father Gérard Luzayadio, parish priest of Saint Joseph, stressed in his homily the importance of continuing to honor the memory of these comedian artists, who, although gone, remain inspiring figures for the current generation. This 11th edition of the thanksgiving mass strengthened the ties between the actors of the artistic scene, recalling the importance of solidarity and mutual support within this community.

The event was also marked by a symbolic gesture: the laying of wreaths of flowers by the comedian artists on the “Place des Artistes” in Matonge, a place full of memories and testimonies of the commitment of these artists to their profession. The approach, marked by respect and emotion, illustrated the recognition and unity that animate the Congolese artistic community.

The large number of actors and artists, such as Ngalufard and Jean Tshaka Tshipamba, highlighted the importance of coming together and celebrating together the legacy left by those who contributed to the influence of theatrical art in Congo. The testimonies and discussions during this meeting highlighted the value of solidarity and the transmission of knowledge between generations.
