Fatshimetrie, July 28, 2024 – A great initiative from the mining company Ding Sheng SARL recently saw the light of day in Banove, a village in the Mambasa territory in Ituri, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. More than 200 sheets of metal were donated for the construction of houses and a school, in order to support those returning to the village.
This humanitarian action, initiated by the mining company in partnership with SMEC, demonstrates the importance of companies’ involvement in the development of local communities. Saidi Shishombo, general director of SMEC, underlines the importance of supporting the local population in areas where mining activities are carried out. The delivery of these construction materials is part of a social responsibility approach and demonstrates commitment to the local population.
The construction of the houses and the school represents a significant step towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region. After years of conflict and population displacement, life is starting to return to normal in Banove. Children will soon be able to study in acceptable conditions, thanks to these initiatives which aim to improve the living conditions of residents.
