A Promised Football Academy in Matadi, Capital of Kongo Central

Fatshimétrie, July 28, 2024 (FAT).- The announcement of the creation of the Familia Academy in Matadi, capital of the Kongo Central province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, marks a major turning point in the local sports landscape. This football training school, initiated by the Association of Friends of Football of Kongo Central (AAFKC), aims to become a springboard for young talents in the region.

The inaugural session was held at the Damar stadium in Matadi, in the presence of prominent members of the AFFKC, including Luc Makengo, co-founder of the Familia Academy. The latter underlined the importance of this initiative by declaring: “The Familia Academy aims to create a real training school for young footballers aged 13 to 18, with the aim of building a competitive team of under-20s.”

Much more than a simple training center, the Familia Academy aspires to play a key role in the promotion of local football. Indeed, an operational agency within it will facilitate contacts between players and clubs, thus promoting the development of local talent. Negotiations will be conducted to ensure fair contracts for all parties concerned, depending on the age of the players.

The primary objective of this academy is to revitalize football in the Kongo Central province by offering young footballers an environment conducive to their development and progress. The courses, whether theoretical or practical, will be given at the Damar stadium in Matadi, a symbol of the strong commitment of the Familia Academy to the training of future Congolese football talents.
