Labor inspectors in the DRC: the challenges of salary regularization

National MP Joseph Nkoy Wembo attracted public attention by addressing a written question to the Minister of State for the Budget, Aimé Boji Sangara, concerning the salary situation of Labor Inspectors recruited in March 2023 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These new employees, recruited following a competition organized on the initiative of the President of the Republic and regularly commissioned, face a recurring problem: they do not yet benefit from the financial support provided by the Public Treasury.

This situation raises several legitimate questions about the management of human and administrative resources within the Congolese administration. MP Nkoy highlights the fact that despite their official recruitment and supervised by ministerial decrees, these labor inspectors are still waiting for salary regularization. He thus questions the Minister of the Budget on the current state of the file and the possible obstacles hindering the mechanization of these new agents.

It is essential that the competent authorities take concrete measures quickly to resolve this situation. Indeed, the proper functioning of labor control and worker rights protection activities is crucial to ensure compliance with social and professional standards in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Adequate remuneration of these labor inspectors is therefore a major issue to guarantee the effectiveness and legitimacy of their actions on the ground.

It is also important to emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in the management of public resources. Congolese citizens have the right to know how funds intended for administrative staff are allocated and to ensure that these resources are used fairly and efficiently.

In conclusion, the question asked by MP Nkoy highlights essential issues related to the management of human and financial resources within the Congolese administration. It is crucial that the competent authorities take the necessary measures to resolve this situation and ensure the proper functioning of labor control services in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
