The Congolese karate Leopards shine at the Central African championships

Throughout the sporting competitions, the Congolese Leopards karate team has once again proven its strength and remarkable talent. By participating in the Central African Championships, which took place from July 13 to 14, 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Congolese karatekas brilliantly represented their country, rising to second place in the general ranking, collecting a total of 19 medals, including 6 gold and 7 silver.

Faced with fierce competition bringing together seven countries from the sub-region, the Congolese team demonstrated unfailing commitment and determination. With a delegation of 16 athletes, including 6 women and 10 men, the Karate Leopards excelled in the kata and kumite events.

Among the Congolese medalists, we find names who have left their mark on the competition. The bronze medals were won by Mangungu, Buguzi Felix, Palambwa, Kon Jordan, Ashuza and Mesu, highlighting the diversity of talent within the team.

The silver medals were also hotly contested, and karatekas such as Palambwa, Koffi, Mankueno, Ikuku, Sarah Massamba and Ikuku kata junior lady were able to show their determination and technical skill to win these precious awards.

Finally, the top of the podium saw the men’s kata team shine, made up of Djonga, Ndaya, Samba, Kaniki and Kwitonda, as well as other individual athletes such as Djonga and Ndaya, who stood out for their exceptional performance and their perfect mastery of karate techniques.

This success of the Karate Leopards at the Central African Championships is the result of hard work, an unwavering passion for karate and boundless ambition. These athletes were able to fly the colors of the Democratic Republic of Congo and proved once again that sport is a vector of unity, self-improvement and national pride.
