Monday June 24, 2024 marks the start of the ordinary session of the State Examination 2023-2024 edition throughout the territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the Haut-Katanga province, 79,139 long cycle candidates embarked on this adventure, including 36,750 girls and 42,582 boys. For the short cycle, there are 101 candidates, including 87 girls and 14 boys, spread across 160 centers.

A positive development has been noted this year with an increase in the participation of girls. Compared to the previous year, girls now represent 46% of candidates, an increase of 2% in the Haut-Katanga province. For four days, from June 24 to Thursday, June 27, 2024, the finalists will undergo tests in the different subjects learned. Nicolas Nyange Bizi Kayembe, Provincial Chief Inspector of Epst Haut-Katanga, encourages students to work hard to hope to achieve success.

He reminds the finalists that the tests require courage and commitment, emphasizing that the results obtained by their predecessors have been remarkable. He warns against cheating and collusion during exams, recalling that such practices go against the values of education.

Nicolas Nyange also highlights the improvements made to the State Examination tests each year. If the correction center was computerized in 2023, this year sees the introduction of the digitization of forms and the synchronization of photos of finalists, thus allowing rapid receipt of diplomas after the disclosure of the results. These innovations strengthen the credibility of these certification evaluations, according to the Chief Provincial Inspector of Epst Haut-Katanga.

Despite this progress, it is important to remember past difficulties. The year 1996 was marked by a resounding failure at the State Examination session in the province of Katanga. However, thanks to the support of the provincial government, Haut-Katanga has become one of the best provinces in education, now achieving excellent results.

Nationally, more than 900,000 candidates take part in these tests. In Lubumbashi, the launch of the exams was carried out at the Twendelee high school in the presence of the provincial Minister of Finance representing the provincial governor and the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education. These moments mark a crucial stage in the educational life of Congolese youth, symbolizing the collective efforts made to guarantee quality education.

The State Exam session is an unmissable event that reflects the commitment of young people to their future and education in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The obstacles of the past are being overcome by determination and innovation, paving the way for a promising future for Congolese youth.
