On June 28, 2024, during the Council of Ministers chaired by President Félix Tshisekedi, a crucial issue was addressed: the improvement of the Congolese education system. At the heart of this meeting, the President underlined the importance of strengthening this system to guarantee a better future for the country’s young people.

Education is indeed an essential pillar of a country’s development. By investing in the modernization of academic and school infrastructures, the Congolese government is embarking on a visionary approach. Because providing quality frameworks to pupils and students means giving them the keys to building a solid future, to contributing to the evolution of society and to actively participating in the country’s economic growth.

The License Master Doctorate (LMD) system, launched during the 2022-2023 academic year, is part of this modernization dynamic. By offering a more coherent and structured teaching and research framework, the LMD aims to improve the quality of higher education in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is an important step in building a more efficient education system that is more adapted to the challenges of the 21st century.

President Tshisekedi’s call for a mid-term evaluation of the Congolese education system reflects his desire to establish a constructive dialogue, to collect the opinions and recommendations of all stakeholders involved in education. Because it is by working together, in consultation with teachers, students, parents and civil society, that we can build a sustainable, inclusive and efficient education system.

Ultimately, improving the Congolese education system is a major issue for the country’s future. By investing in education, promoting the training of young people and promoting academic excellence, the Democratic Republic of Congo is embarking on the path to progress and success. Because it is by giving everyone the means to train, to flourish and to contribute to the construction of a fairer and more enlightened society, that we will be able to build a bright future for all.
