A recent thesis defended at the University of Kinshasa shed light on the academic results and creative intelligence performance of deaf students in the region. The author of the thesis, Denise Mvindu Nionzuka, looked at the impact of the family effect and the school effect on these students, and discovered some interesting correlations.

The study found that deaf students from middle-income families tend to perform well academically. Additionally, those attending schools with quality resources perform better in creative intelligence. These results underline the importance of the family and school environment in the educational success of these students.

Denise Mvindu Nionzuka highlighted that positive family assets and quality educational resources are key elements in promoting academic success and the development of creative intelligence among deaf students. These findings provide essential food for thought for education professionals and open new perspectives for future research in this area.

The author also advocated a global approach to caring for deaf students, placing the family at the heart of the educational process. According to her, the family should be a place of exploration, discovery and learning for these children, thus promoting their development. Actively integrating children with hearing disabilities into family activities can significantly contribute to their overall development.

Recognition of the quality of this thesis resulted in the award of the degree of doctor of education with high distinction to Denise Mvindu Nionzuka by the University of Kinshasa. This distinction was presented during an academic session chaired by the administrative secretary general of UNIKIN, in the presence of the professors promoting the thesis.

In short, this study highlights the importance of the family and school environment in the success of deaf students in Kinshasa. It also highlights the need to adopt a holistic approach to care to promote the academic and creative development of these students. The results of this thesis open the way to new educational perspectives for this often marginalized population.
