Kinshasa, June 27, 2024 (Fatshimetrie) – A cry of alarm rings out in the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku, underlines the crucial need to mobilize 58.4 billion US dollars for the implementation of the Industrialization Master Plan. This declaration, delivered during the conference on the development challenges of the DRC, reveals the scale of the challenges facing the country in its quest for efficient and sustainable industrialization.

The call launched by Minister Paluku resonates as an imperative for the Congolese State, inviting it to consider bold solutions, such as debt, to realize this ambitious Master Plan. The latter aims in particular to reduce dependence on imports, estimated at 7 billion US dollars per year, including 3 billion in the agri-food sector. The conference, organized by the scientific body of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) under the theme “Critical Analysis of the Industrialization Master Plan of the Democratic Republic of Congo”, brings together a host of key players: university professors, researchers, entrepreneurs and politicians. This two-day meeting offers a privileged forum to discuss the fundamentals of industrialization and lay the foundations for lasting economic development.

Its expertise, combined with its commitment to sustainable growth, paves the way for innovative and pragmatic solutions to address the complex challenges that lie on the road to industrialization.

While debates rage and ideas abound, the conclusion of the conference approaches, revealing a horizon rich in promise for the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Industrialization Master Plan now asserts itself as the foundation on which large-scale economic and social development will be based, propelling the country towards a radiant and prosperous future. The destiny of the DRC is thus taking shape in the form of a profound transformation, guided by the vision and determination of its key players, ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
