**Renovation within the Congolese Football Association Federation (Fecofa): New standards and transparency required by FIFA**

In an official press release, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) recently announced its decision to cancel the results of the extraordinary general assembly of the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (Fecofa), which took place on July 22, 2023 at the Caritas center in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This decision follows the detection of irregularities during the electoral process which led to the establishment of electoral and appeals commissions.

An independent commission composed of impartial magistrates and lawyers has been established, with the mission of verifying the conformity of applications for positions on the electoral and appeals commissions, in accordance with the statutes in force. All applications not complying with the provisions of the said statutes were rejected, and only those in compliance were submitted to the vote of the Fecofa general assembly. This initiative aims to guarantee a transparent and fair electoral process.

Furthermore, FIFA has established a permanent consultation framework involving the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Fecofa national committee (CONOR) to ensure regular monitoring of the overall process and strengthen federal governance. This close collaboration between the different bodies will ensure compliance with international standards in terms of ethics and transparency within Fecofa.

This decision by FIFA demonstrates its commitment to transparent and democratic governance within national football federations. By establishing independent verification mechanisms and promoting dialogue between the various stakeholders, FIFA works for the integrity of sport and the promotion of the essential values of fairness and justice.

This renovation and restructuring process within Fecofa is part of a common desire to establish a culture of good governance and respect for the rules within the sporting body. It constitutes a significant step towards establishing exemplary practices and consolidating the credibility of Fecofa on the international scene.

Ultimately, this questioning of the electoral results and the implementation of corrective measures demonstrate FIFA’s determination to promote high standards of transparency and legitimacy within national football federations. This desire to strengthen democratic and ethical principles within Congolese football reflects FIFA’s commitment to guaranteeing the integrity and credibility of the king of sport, a vector of universal values and unity.
