Fatshimetrie recently reported encouraging news for the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Inclusive and Resilient Rural Development Support Program (PADRIR) provided valuable support to the National Institute for Agronomic Studies and Research (INERA) Salubezya station in Maniema province by providing two tons of agricultural equipment. This generous gesture aims to strengthen INERA/Salubezya’s capacity in seed production, with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainable and quality local agriculture.
Alphonse Mata, PADRIR’s provincial coordinator, spoke about this strategic donation, emphasizing its importance for the empowerment of INERA/Salubezya in seed production. Thanks to this equipment endowment, INERA/Salubezya will gradually be able to become self-sufficient and thus actively contribute to agricultural recovery in the region.
The close collaboration between PADRIR and INERA/Salubezya, materialized by the signing of an operational protocol, opens the way to new perspectives for the agricultural sector in Maniema. Augustin Mulongoy, head of the INERA/Salubezya station, expressed his gratitude for this welcome support, highlighting the difficulties the institution was facing due to the lack of adequate equipment. This allocation of agricultural equipment therefore represents a real breath of fresh air for INERA/Salubezya, which will now be able to focus on its essential mission of producing quality seeds.
Located in Beia, a few hundred kilometers from Kindu, INERA/Salubezya plays a key role in the agricultural development of the region. Thanks to this PADRIR initiative, the institution is now better equipped to meet future challenges and to contribute significantly to the improvement of local agricultural practices. This successful collaboration between the public and private sectors demonstrates the importance of supporting and investing in agriculture to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for the Congolese population.
In conclusion, this donation of agricultural equipment to INERA/Salubezya by PADRIR represents a significant step towards building resilient and inclusive agriculture in Maniema. By investing in the production of quality seeds, these two institutions are actively contributing to food security and economic development in the region. This example of effective collaboration should inspire other similar initiatives in the agricultural sector in the DRC, in order to create a better future for all.
