Beware of motorcycle thefts: a key warning in Osogbo

The recent warning statement issued by the Osogbo Police Command, transmitted by the latter’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, calls into question an increasingly worrying issue: motorcycle thefts in the state. . This warning is crucial given the increase in reported cases of motorcycle theft.

Opalola explained that this warning became necessary due to the increasing number of cases of motorcycle thefts in the state. Motorcyclists, particularly motorcycle taxi drivers (Okada), are called upon to exercise extra caution towards the passengers they transport or who use their services.

The criminals’ modus operandi involves hailing motorcycle taxi drivers and luring them to isolated locations late at night, where they are violently robbed of their motorcycles. Drivers are often offered attractive prices that they cannot resist.

These attacks have caused serious injuries and even deaths among motorcycle drivers. SP Opalola also highlighted that CP Mohammed Abba urged the management of the State Motorcycle Drivers Association to constantly sensitize its members to avoid falling victims of this type of crime.

It is therefore important that these drivers report any suspicious passengers and their activities to the nearest police station. This recommendation aims to strengthen the safety of motorcyclists and curb this worrying criminal trend.

In short, this declaration highlights the importance of increased vigilance on the part of motorcycle taxi drivers, in the face of a growing threat of theft and assault. Cooperation between authorities and relevant associations is essential to prevent such incidents and protect the lives and property of drivers on a daily basis.
