The rise of digital literacy for youth empowerment in the state

The rise of information technology and digital literacy is a key enabler for youth development and empowerment. In this regard, Mrs Nwifuru’s recent initiative, through her Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation (BERWO) in collaboration with the state government, is a significant step towards creating literacy skills digital technology and providing employment opportunities for the young generation of the state.

Beneficiaries of this program will have the chance to be trained in frontend development, hardware maintenance/networking, graphic design, video editing and content creation. These practical and essential skills in information technology and digital literacy are crucial for the self-development and unlocking of young people’s potential.

The state government’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for training the youth is a commendable step. This clearly demonstrates the authorities’ desire to bridge the digital skills gap and enable beneficiaries to become self-sufficient in their various projects.

Digital literacy training is not only about acquiring technical skills but also about making young people aware of the importance of staying away from drug addiction. In this sense, representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) highlighted the importance of abstaining from drug consumption and advocated for the establishment of a treatment and rehabilitation center in the state.

The launch of the free training program to improve the digital literacy skills of the state’s youth is a major step forward. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the state government and BERWO Foundation for this initiative, and pledged to put the acquired knowledge into practice for their own development and digital empowerment.

Ultimately, this initiative demonstrates the importance of investing in youth by providing them with the tools and skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy. By encouraging training in information technology and digital literacy, we help build a promising future for youth, providing them with much-needed opportunities for personal and professional growth in an increasingly connected world.
