The Congolese government strengthens vocational training for young people in Kaniama Kasese

President Félix Tshisekedi recently made his first trip to the provinces since his re-election, and chose Lubumbashi to inaugurate a series of new facilities for the National Service. This initiative aims to improve the mobility of personnel and recruits, as well as the transport of agricultural products in the Kaniama Kasese region. The commissioning of two locomotives, wagons and cars demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and public services.

On the sidelines of this inauguration, the Commander of the National Service underlined the importance of this institution in the training and supervision of young people. The Kaniama Kasese center offers training programs in agriculture, carpentry and machine operation, allowing young people to develop useful skills for their professional future. More than 4,000 young people already trained have been deployed across the country to contribute to construction and agricultural projects.

The new training session has already attracted more than 500 young people, eager to benefit from these opportunities offered by the National Service. Despite criticism of the recruitment methods and treatment of young people, General Sylvain Kasongo defended the Kaniama Kasese center by presenting it as a space for development and civic supervision. He also highlighted the role of young people trained abroad, particularly in South Africa, who acquired skills in machinery and were able to demonstrate their know-how before the head of state.

This initiative by the Congolese government demonstrates its commitment to youth and the development of professional skills. By investing in the education and training of young people, the country provides itself with the resources necessary for its economic and social development. It is essential to continue to support these initiatives and to offer young Congolese training and employment opportunities so that they can contribute positively to the growth and progress of the country.
