Governor Fubara Praised for His Commitment to Democracy and the Rule of Law

The National Vanguard for Rule of Law (NVRL) recently praised Governor Fubara for his demonstration of democratic principles.

In a statement signed by Comrade Johnson Babatunde, the NVRL praised Governor Fubara for allowing local elected officials to complete their mandate, following its expiration. This decision is seen as a testament to Governor Fubara’s respect for the popular will, who overwhelmingly elected these officials to represent them.

The group stressed the importance of this gesture, calling on other governors in the country to follow the example of Governor Fubara in respecting democracy, the rule of law and third party government.

Comrade Johnson Babatunde also highlighted the democratic traits of Governor Fubara, calling him a true democrat and defender of the rights of the people. According to him, this attitude demonstrates that Governor Fubara attaches great importance to the well-being and interests of his fellow citizens, above all personal or political considerations.

The group thus hailed Governor Fubara as a champion of democracy, a notable figure on the Nigerian political scene and a model for other leaders to follow.

Comparing the situation to that of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, who dismissed local elected officials inherited from his predecessor despite a court order to this effect, the group highlighted the difference in exemplary conduct of Governor Fubara.

In conclusion, Governor Fubara’s gesture in favor of respecting the mandate of local elected officials is a significant step towards the consolidation of democracy and the rule of law. His laudable attitude deserves to be saluted and serve as an example for other political actors in the country.
