Enhanced security during Hajj: Preventive measures taken by Saudi authorities

Saudi authorities have recently taken a proactive step to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage to Mina, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, headed by Dr. Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman, issued a directive prohibiting pilgrims from visiting the Jamarat Bridge between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. This decision aims to protect pilgrims against high temperatures and to prevent any risk of sunstroke.

In a statement, Dr Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman stressed the importance of this measure and asked security services to be present at the camps to enforce this restriction. He also warned the Hajj Affairs Office and service providers against violating this directive, calling on them to fully assume their responsibilities.

Furthermore, the authorities of the Nigerian Hajj Commission arrested two illegal migrants, Muhammed Umar and Nazifi Tasi’u GARBA, for having entered the pilgrims’ tents. This action was carried out in response to concerns about overcrowding of accommodation sites and the risk of theft.

The suspects were handed over to Saudi police, who took their fingerprints and fined them 10,000 Saudi riyals to pay before they left the country. This measure aims to dissuade pilgrims from committing illegal acts and to strengthen security during the pilgrimage.
