Transformation of the Ministry of Rural Development in the DRC: a new era for the rural sector

The Minister of Rural Development, Muhindo Nzangi, recently took office with an ambitious vision for the sector. In a determined speech, he stressed the need to combat the growing impoverishment of rural populations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This statement sounds like a call to action and marks the beginning of a new era for rural development in the country.

Indeed, the new Minister has committed to a thorough reform of the Ministry of Rural Development in order to make it more efficient and at the service of rural communities. In particular, he highlighted the importance of streamlining human resources by reducing the number of agents in Kinshasa to redeploy them to the field, where the needs are most felt. This pragmatic and results-oriented approach demonstrates the Minister’s desire to transform administrative structures to meet rural development challenges.

In addition, Muhindo Nzangi intends to breathe new life into the Ministry by involving young people more and promoting the emergence of new ideas and practices. His previous experience at the head of the ESU, where he initiated bold reforms, suggests promising prospects for the rural sector. Rural populations can hope for an improvement in their living conditions thanks to policies and projects adapted to their real needs.

The convening of service facilitators and project managers for a working session aimed at redefining the Ministry’s roadmap is an encouraging step. This desire to modernize and reinvent services reflects a dynamic and participatory approach, essential to meet the challenges of rural development.

Since Rural Development became a Ministry of State, under the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi, it has been entrusted with many missions to boost rural areas. The development of development projects, the promotion of cooperation between farmers and support for rural economic activities are among the priorities of this Ministry. This recognition of the importance of rural development in the national political agenda is a positive signal for the populations concerned.

In conclusion, the speech of the Minister of Rural Development demonstrates a strong political will to transform the sector and provide concrete solutions to the challenges of the rural world in the DRC. The Ministry’s next actions must be in line with this innovative and inclusive vision to ensure a better future for the country’s rural populations.
