Fatshimetrie – The First Council of Ministers of the new government led by Judith Suminwa, under the presidency of Félix Tshisekedi, was held today in Kinshasa. A solemn scene marked by the presence of the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Ministers, surrounded by the new members of the cabinet. This inaugural meeting takes on particular significance, with 30 new faces entering government.
During this inaugural meeting, the President clearly set the course to follow, emphasizing the importance of unity and determination of the government team. He called on ministers to transcend their political and religious affiliations, to focus fully on the challenges facing the country. A clear request was made to the new members of the government to play an active role in promoting security in the east of the country, particularly in the face of the threat posed by armed groups such as the M23.
Félix Tshisekedi also underlined the importance of regular evaluation of ministerial actions, with quarterly reviews to measure the effectiveness of the policies put in place. Emphasis was placed on moral values and ethics, with a requirement for benevolence, courtesy, sobriety and good governance on the part of each member of the government. Strict criteria which will be closely monitored to ensure impeccable conduct in all spheres of activity.
In a context where the expectations of the Congolese people are high, this Prime Council of Ministers marks the start of a new governmental era. The security, economic and social challenges facing the country require concerted and resolute action from all stakeholders. Vigilance and responsibility will be the key words of this government team, called to respond to the legitimate aspirations of the population and to breathe new impetus into the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
