The province of North Kivu, plagued by abuses by the March 23 Movement (M23), is particularly affected by this humanitarian crisis. Children are the first victims of this violence, suffering physical and psychological trauma which will have lasting repercussions on their development. Exploitation, sexual abuse, forced conscription, forced labor… the forms of violence suffered by these children are countless and heartbreaking.

It is essential that the international community mobilizes to put in place concrete actions aimed at protecting these children and ensuring them a better future. Prevention and protection measures must be put in place urgently to guarantee the safety and well-being of these young victims. It is also crucial to invest in rehabilitation and reintegration programs to allow these children to rebuild their lives and return to a normal life.

On this International Day of Child Victims of Aggression, it is essential to raise public awareness of this difficult reality and mobilize the necessary resources to provide an effective response to this humanitarian crisis. Children are the future of tomorrow, and it is our duty to protect their innocence and provide them with a safe and conducive environment for them to flourish.

In conclusion, the situation of child victims of crime and exploitation in eastern DRC is a major challenge that requires collective and urgent action. It is time to take action to protect these innocent children and give them a better future.
